Mead Shaffer, V.M.D. co-founder of Conchester Animal Hospital, received his 2-year degree from Pennsylvania State University and his V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Shaffer specializes in small animal medicine. He owns a small farm with corgis and Suffolk sheep. Dedicated to historic preservation and conservation, Dr. Shaffer was instrumental in the formation of the Bethel Township Historic Preservation Group and is an ardent collector of antiques.


Harvey Yenkinson, B.S., V.M.D.
received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in 1971 and his V.M.D from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975. He and his wife of twenty years, Sally, have 2 children, Rachel and Abby. Rachel is in her second year of college, and Abby is a junior in high school. Dr. Yenkinson's hobbies include scuba diving and saltwater fishing. He also is active in marine conservation organizations and historical structure conservation. His specialties include performing medical diagnostics and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Dr Yenkinson has a special interest in all treatments of cancer, including surgical oncology, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, nutritional therapy, and combinations of all of these therapies. He also has a special interest in treatment of feline leukemia and immunodeficiency virus (FIV) infections with holistic and biochemical immunostimulatory drugs. Dr. Yenkinson has been affiliated with the Conchester Animal Hospital for 24 years.


Kathy Tracy, V.M.D.
received a B.S. in Biology from Widener University in 1971 and her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975. She has a special interest in pocket pets and reptiles. Dr. Tracy is married with 3 stepdaughters and a large extended Irish family. At present, she has a 15 year-old domestic short-haired cat named Whitey, but she had dogs for 25 years as well as rabbits, birds, reptiles, fish, cats, turtles and one duck. Dr. Tracy enjoys snorkeling, traveling, and gardening in her spare time. She is also an active member of Green Peace, class agent for the U. of P. Veterinary Class '75, alumni career counselor for Widener University, and member of the Association of Avian Vets (AAV) and the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Vets (ARAV).

Jody M. Hoffman, V.M.D. received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1993. Dr. Hoffman has a special interest in behavior problems in both dogs and cats and also will care for small mammals and reptiles. Dr. Hoffman is married and just recently, gave birth to a baby girl. Zeppy and Zindel are her two mixed breed dogs; Morgan and Nibbles are her two domestic short hair cats. Dr. Hoffman enjoys gardening and watching the Flyers on her time off.



Andrew M. Lombardo, D.V.M.
received a B.S. in Biology from Rowan University and his D.V.M. from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. His special interest is in dentistry and surgery. Dr. Lombardo has spent the last 6 years studying dentistry under the supervision of Dr. Peter Emily. Dr. Emily is one of the foremost authorities on animal dentistry in the world. Dr. Lombardo and his wife, Maryann, have 2 children - Marlise who is 4 years old and Gina Marie who is one. The family also shares their home with Rudy, a long-haired Dachshund, and Ice Berg and R.J., both beagles. Dr. Lombardo's interests include family get-togethers, fishing, beagles, archery, spending time with friends, gardening, and movies.

Karen Milne is our surgical technician here at Conchester Animal Hospital. She also is trained as a dental hygienist and as a monitor for anesthesia. Her specialties include the care and treatment of pre- and post-surgical small animals and exotics. Karen received her education at Harcum Junior College. She is married to Don and has one daughter named Heather. Family pets include 2 guinea pigs named Meeko and Sammy. Karen's interests include physical fitness and animals. She was a member of the Concord and Hidden Hollow swimming teams.


Our office manager is Diane Long. She has been married 30 years and has 2 children, Michele who is 27 years old and Joe who is 23 years old. She also has a granddaughter April who is 9. Diane's interests include camping and vacationing in the Poconos.

Carol Rayne is our medical technician who was trained at Conchester Animal Hospital. She specializes in the care and treatment of sick or injured small animals and exotics. Carol has been married 19 years to Jim and has 2 daughters, Casey who is 18 and Jaclyn who is 11. Family pets include a boxer mix named CJ's Knockout, a beagle named Tyler, and 2 cats named Minky and Ashes. Carol is an avid book reader and is a lover of animals. She also is the coach of a competitive cheerleading squad.

We also have an amazing group of people that make up our office and kennel staff.
